Babies and young children have a natural ability for yoga right
from their first Belly Breath after birth. They sleep in Child
Pose (after the risk of SIDS has passed, of course), learn to
stand with the aid of Down Dog. Not to mention their
flexibility! As we watch them develop throughout their first
few years, it's amazing the number of yoga poses that are
natural for them, but yet, we as adults, struggle with
immensely! For me, my yoga practice is all about becoming
child-like again, so why not encourage that inner child to never
go away? Come join us for a fun hour of bonding, nurturing
and developing the baby yogi!
Peaceful Kids Yoga with Miriam
What Moms are saying about PKY yoga classes:
*Eliza & I were looking at pictures on my laptop of her in class when she was 8 months. I asked her what it was and she said "up, up & away, 1/2 moon!" (Tots Mom - Eliza's was 20 months when this occured)
*"All of the sudden this morning, Olivia said, "Mama, I miss yoga. Go see Miriam?" When I told her we were starting again soon, she was very excited!" (Tykes Mom)
* "Marcus is anxious to come back and has refused to attend any other yoga class but yours!" (Storytime Yoga Mom)
"Yesterday I was in the kitchen, and Owen yelled in to me, 'Mommy, I'm doin' down dog! Just like Miriam does!' " (Tykes and Baby Mom)
* "The kids had so much fun with you in yoga, they haven’t stopped talking about it. I just wanted to let you know. They cant wait till next week so they can see you again." (Hillsboro- Deering Middle School Advisor)
* "I wanted to tell you how much I have LOVED your class and what I have learned is fantastic!" (Baby Yoga Mom)
* "It's such a good therapy to go to your classes :)" (Baby Yoga Mom)
* "For a first- time Mom, it gave me better insight on how to play with my little guy."
* "I just wanted to let you know that Shelley and I had so much fun in your classes. And Chris truly enjoyed his dad's day too." (Tot Yoga Mom)

I've been enjoying summer so much - even all the rain - that I've
been completely negligent in updating my website. I think I just
don't want to admit that the summer is coming to an end, but
it is rapidly winding down. FINALLY the Fall Schedule is
available online.

SATURDAY SPECIAL – 25% OFF!
As most of you are aware I’ve been working towards my 200-
hour Registered Yoga Teacher certification with weekend-long
monthly trainings this year. It’s been a true joy to have this
time to learn so much about the practice of yoga in ways that
enable me to offer more to your children. I also have to admit,
selfishly, that it’s a treat to focus one weekend a month solely
upon myself and my personal yoga practice. As we all know, it’s
so challenging to find time to dedicate to oneself as our
beautiful babies grow.
The downside of this endeavor is that it’s made the Saturday
classes I offer less fluid than I would prefer. The continuity
and ability to bond with other parents in these classes isn’t
there because we’re constantly starting and stopping.
So I’d like to offer my Saturday families a 25% discount on the
remaining classes in the 2008 calendar year. You’ve all been so
wonderfully patient with me throughout this process I feel it’s
the least I can do to thank you in return. There will be 10
Saturday classes offered starting on September 6th running
through December 6th. I plan to offer those classes as a single
session for a cost of $75. Since this is such a super deal, I
expect classes to fill up very quickly so please register soon!

Tenielle is PKY's newest big sister. Welcome Baby Danica who
was born on Monday, August 11th at 4:00pm, weighing in at a
whopping 8lbs. 9 oz. (just an ounce smaller than Tenielle!) Mom
Karen and family are all doing well. I was fortunate enough to
meet Ms. Danica less than 24 hours old. What a treat! By that
time Big Sister Tenielle was already bored with the baby!
I think that's the last baby for a while - until late 2008!

INFANT MASSAGE COMING SOON!
Moms in this year’s baby classes know that I’ve been including a
little infant massage from time to time as part of the class
curriculum. Since first being trained in Itsy Bitsy Yoga®, I’ve
felt that yoga and infant massage go hand-in-hand, but until
now I’ve been unable to find teacher trainings that fit into my
schedule. I’m so very excited to be participating in a 3-day
teacher training workshop in late September. Moms in the baby
classes this fall will benefit almost immediately from this new
training. I hope to incorporate it as an add-on to my IBY
classes and possibly offer classes solely in infant massage in the
future if there’s enough interest. So stay tuned!

****PRODUCT RECALLS****
Unfortunately so many products have been recalled recently,
the list goes on seemingly forever. A website all parents should
visit regularly is that of the US Consumer Product Safety
Commission - www.cpsc.gov. The site allows parents to easily
keep track of this disturbing problem facing children's
products. It's very user-friendly and provides the most up-to-
date information on all recalls - adults products as well as
children.
Featuring Itsy Bitsy Yoga® for Babies through age 4.

Classes also available for children ages 5 - 8.
